Armani Luminous Silk Foundation Review and Comparisons

Armani: This award-winning foundation is formulated with micro-fil technology, producing a low-density product that pairs high-impact pigments with weightless texture. Inspired by the silk shantung worn by kings and emperors, this foundation glides seamlessly onto the skin leaving a finish that’s reminiscent of charmeuse silk.

Armani Luminous Silk Foundation ($62.00) is described as a lightweight liquid foundation that achieves a radiant, silky finish.

Packaging. I have to start off by saying that being someone that suffers from OCD, the packaging of this foundation is INCREDIBLY annoying. It’s very hard to explain in writing but the glass bottle is shaped oblong in one direction and the plastic cap is shaped oblong as well but in the opposite direction. They do not line up and for the shape of the cap to match the shape of the bottle you have to have the cap logo off-centered.

The product itself is a nice product. Is it amazing? No. It is worth the hype? No. It is worth $62.00? Definitely not. I am far more happy with my It Cosmetics CC Cream for half the cost.

It does have a “slight” luminous finish, I’d say moreso on the satin side and is semi-moisturizing at best. The most disappointing thing about this foundation is the coverage. There is next to no coverage and for the price I just don’t understand why they couldn’t come up with a more extraordinary product. Even if I had an insane amount of money I wouldn’t repurchase this product, it’s just not that great. It reminds me of being a similar version of Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet+ only the MUFE is better! And does it feel light on the skin like it claims? No. It feels no where near as light as the new Nars All Day Weightless Luminous Foundation. Simply put, I don’t recommend this foundation. For reference I purchased shade 3 and in the Spring Summer (current) I am NC15. The one major pro about this foundation is the color match. This foundation is the best color match I’ve ever found for my skin tone.

Additional reference: my skin type is dry and dehydrated with severe sensitivity.  I have post permanent discoloration from broken capillaries and rarely see new blemishes.  Aging skin.

  1. Great review! I love your honesty about why you didn’t love this one. I tried Lasting Silk as it seemed a better formulation match for oily skin types and it wasn’t love for me, either. It had a chalky look to it no matter how I applied it. I just didn’t find it up to snuff. I exchanged it for Dior DiorSkin Nude Air and YES! THAT’S what I’m talking about, Willis! It’s wonderful. I do find it remarkably similar to Maybelline DW Fluid-Touch, only I feel the Dior offers slightly less coverage. Everyone raves about the Armani Silk foundations, so it’s strangely nice to know it wasn’t a winner for you, either! I feel less crazy, lol!
