Too Faced: Get the staying power of a stain, the intense color of a liquid lipstick and the high shine of a gloss in one long-wear formula. Using exclusive technology to keep cauldrons of molten lipsticks liquid and creamy, Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick comfortably coats lips in bursts of intense, high-impact, super rich, saturated color that lasts for hours.
Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick ($21.00), are they worth the price tag?
Packaging. It’s pretty cool. Handy. And a little problematic too. In terms of the sponge tip, it isn’t as accurate as I’d like and in fact I think it might be the lead cause in terms of my primary complaint of these lipsticks.
Application. These apply, in my opinion, not so smoothly. As stated above, I believe the sponge tip causes a feather effect when applying them. Unless you blob a lot onto the tip, the texture of the sponge tip applies the lipstick in the same texture of the sponge tip…a feathery effect. Yet if you apply them at full opacity, they bleed. This is not cute either way. I feel like I shouldn’t have to use a lip brush, I’d buy something like OCC Lip Tars if that was what I was after. Furthermore OCC provides you with a brush when you buy their Tars being straight forward with the customer that they are that type of product. Perhaps the lighter shades in this range are less high maintenance? I know I’m being picky but If I’m going to pay $21.00 I think they should be pretty much near flawless. I’ve gotten better application from $2.00 Wet N Wild lipsticks. Where these almost become worth the price is in longevity and color.
Longevity. After initial dry time they last quite a while and I didn’t notice any transfer either. These are quite comfortable the entire time too, not tremendously drying as is other long wear formulas.
Color. My Melted Berry suspiciously looks like Melted Ruby. When you take a look at the swatches of both on the Too Faced website, you’ll see my concern. Either their swatches are way off, or the color in my tube is off. Comment below if you have any thoughts on this. Whatever color it happens to be it’s still pretty but not what I was intending to purchase. Melted Fig is both unique and GEORGOUS! I really love this lipstick shade.
My final thoughts on these are mixed. I’m a little bit confused regarding the Berry shade. I like the texture and longevity of these but at full opacity the bleeding is almost unmanageable even with liner. I imagine this to be the same unappealing factor in OCC Lip Tars though I’ve never tried those for that reason. I just can’t deal with high maintenance of feathering and bleeding and can’t see myself reaching for Berry EVER. The color of Fig is so beautiful that perhaps I’d make the occasional exception for it.
L to R:
Fig at full opacity, Fig dabbed
Berry at full opacity, Berry dabbed
Fig: Bite Beauty Cava: Sephora Nano Liner Royal Rose, Berry: Urban Decay 24/7 Liner Mrs. Mia Wallace
*No lip brush was used, only the sponge tip applicator on the lipstick tube (hence semi sloppy applications).
All colors available are beautifully swatched in real photos (not graphic photos) on the Too Faced website. I strongly suggest you go over there and check them out before you purchase a color.
