Silence, Compassion, Awareness and Happy Holidays

To Westerners, sitting quietly and doing nothing is often seen as a waste of time.  How can anything significant be accomplished by doing nothing? Or is it really doing nothing?  The answer to these questions require a shift in perspective.  When people are willing to experiment with this shift, a new world of possibility may open.  What seems at first to be a non-activity is in fact its own kind of activity. -Morning Meditations

IMG_2603So I’ve been under an extreme amount of personal stress.  Moreso an anxiety of the unknown caused by circumstances going on in my life.  I took a long break from blogging, makeup, art, family and friends…anything and everything that meant something in my life with the exception of my husband and daughter.  The book I’ve been reading, Morning Meditations is a compilation of writings written by a group of health and wellness professionals.  It brings up interesting ideas about what silence and quietness means to most people.

My silence was and is taken as a form of rebellion, selfishness and/or rudeness.  I can understand why.  I think it’s human nature to be offended when communication comes to an abrupt halt.  If I’m honest, I’d probably feel the same only I’m not surrounded by anyone that handles stress like I do.  Luckily I have a couple friends that have been in my life since I was very young that know me so well they understand these episodes of periodic self-sabbaticals.  Sabbaticals.  I’m totally going with that term for the rest of this post.  But for the most part my sabbaticals are taken pretty offensively. After reading this book I feel slightly less bad for taking personal time to try to get my poo in a group again.  Though there are at times poo is still piling up in my life, I’m trying hard to get it gathered up.  It’s going to be a long road of poo-dom, but I have hopes.

Small Sephora Haul and Rouge Status

I know this is a tiny haul but I wanted to post it while the sale was still going on. Sephora is selling the Urban Decay Smoked Palette for $20.00 when it retails regularly for $49.00. The full sized 24/7 liner that comes with it has a value of $18 alone and who doesn’t use a black liner for something? Super duper value. It is sold out at Ulta but still available at Sephora and Urban Decay. I hear they are getting ready to discontinue the palette.

Maybelline: Try New Lash Sensational Mascara from Maybelline New York for a sensational full fan effect. Our first patented fanning brush with 10 layers of bristles reveals a full flourish of lashes. Liquid Ink formula coats from all sides.

Prices on these mascaras will vary depending on the drugstore. I did have trouble finding the Lash Sensational mascara because it has been newly released but I’m sure it’ll be everywhere soon.

So is this mascara sensational?

NEW Too Faced Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette First Impression, Swatches and Comparisons.

Too Faced Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette ($49.00) is unfortunately only currently available to VIB and VIB Rouge members at Sephora online. I’m personally not a fan of this type of sales tactic but what can you do?  It will be available online for all on 12/15 and then available in stores and on the Too Faced site in January.  I hope you enjoy the post and find the first impression helpful when deciding whether or not to buy it.

Inspired by Too Faced’s Chocolate Bar Eye Shadow Collection, this Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar palette is a deeper, warmer version of the original coveted palette. Infused with the scent of sweet chocolate, this collection features 16 antioxidant-rich, cocoa powder-infused shadows in matte and shimmer shades with warm caramels, deep mochas, bronzy chocolate, and vibrant sugared blueberry hues. These rich, high-pigment shades are perfect for any season, and it includes a signature how-to Glamour Guide to help you get started with three eye looks.

Cold Weather Lip Therapy

I’m talking about two simple and reliable little ditties that make me happy this time of year.

Fresh Sugar Lip Polish ($22.50)

A sweet treatment that that leaves lips incredibly soft and smooth.

This unique formula is enriched with real brown sugar crystals to gently buff away dry flakes. It nourishes the lips with the oils of meadowfoam seed, jojoba seed, and grapeseed while shea butter provides long-lasting moisture.

Prior to this scrub, I had a love affair with Mary Kay Satin Lips Lip Mask ($10.00). I highly recommend it and will repurchase it again after this Fresh polish is used up.

Vaseline Lip Thehrapy Original. Pricing varies among drugstores.

Protects and relieves dry and chapped lips, while locking in moisture to help them heal. Instantly softens and soothes dry lips. Locks in moisture to help lips recover from discomfort. Made with triple-purified Vaseline® petroleum jelly.

I’d love to know your favorite stand by lip treatments in the harsh winter months. I’ve been curious about the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask ($26.00) but have heard that it is obnoxiously thick and doesn’t ever sink in but rather sits on top of the lips. I’ve also heard people rave about it too. I’m most tempted to purchase the Hourglass N° 28 Lip Treatment Oil but it’s really expensive in my opinion. For $42.00 I do wonder if it’s worth it. I have noticed that it sold out during the VIB and FF sales so perhaps it is worth it. Maybe for Christmas eh’!?
